About Me

Hi!

I'm Kristin Lawson

I’m a Principal UX Designer who loves turning complex problems into intuitive, human-centered experiences. My work sits at the intersection of design, systems thinking, and business strategy, helping teams create products that truly meet customer needs.

Colleagues often say I bring a positive, calm, and steady presence to teams. My natural optimism helps me approach complex challenges with structured thinking, guiding teams from ambiguity to clear, actionable paths forward.

My Path to UX Design

I studied Industrial Design at Georgia Institute of Technology because I wanted to create products that improve people’s lives. After graduating, I spent four years as a product manager developing home décor, DIY craft products, and power tool accessories for mass retail, where I managed over $20M in product lines and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

While I loved developing products that solved problems for customers, I realized I wanted to be closer to the design of the experience itself. That led me back to Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue a master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction.

Since then, I’ve worked across large enterprise platforms and startups, including design work with The Home Depot, Uber, and a health startup. I’m particularly fascinated by how thoughtful design can positively influence human behavior and help people feel more confident using technology.

What I'm Passionate About

  • Designing products grounded in research that solve real customer problems
  • Creating clear, intuitive systems to simplify complex platforms
  • Aligning user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Helping teams adopt human-centered thinking and promoting accesibility
  • Mentoring and encouraging junior designers
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary roles and having fun along the way

Outside of Work

When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me teaching stained glass, woodworking in my garage, traveling to experience new cultures, or enthusiastically petting any fuzzy llama that will tolerate it. I’m also known to eat Nutella on just about everything…and I can always talk about cats for longer than necessary.
